Damn fancy book learnin’… who needs it

In my hometown of Katy, Tx, which is rather “white”, there were lots of letters to the editor and the Katy Ind. School District to not show the President’s speech at all.

Yeah, I’ll admit it, I voted for President Obama, but he is quickly becoming just another Washington turd in my eyes but to resist having the president tell your kids why he feels education is so important? WTF!?!

I am disgusted to the point of nausea of what I read coming from some of the citizens in Katy, Tx.

There was this little gem from Resident who compares the president to a nazi:

“Didn’t Hitler start out his conquest by directly trying to influence children by speaking to them in their classrooms? “

Then there was this genius who said:

He’s not educating our children..he’s giving a speech which does not need to be given. You must not have been born in Texas…bc Texans don’t care what the rest of the country thinks and we’ve been better off for it!!

Then there was this guy who spoke for all Katy citizens as being God fearing.

Surprise, this superintendent of Katy ISD wants to push this Obama message to kids. Surprise, this superintendent wants to have our kids ‘pledge’ to Obama. Superintendent Alton Frailey, this is KATY. We are still a God fearing community and believe in the USA and not your godless socialism. Alton Frailey, this is America, not France.

Sorry bastards… they may as well be riding cloaked horses, white robes and pointed hats.

At least I can see from a majority of the comments at The Katy Times not everyone in my hometown is an idiot.

Here is a wonderful example by a Katy Mommy.

First of all let me say that this whole debate is humorous to me – what a horrible idea on the president’s part to encourage kids to stay is school – shame on him. For those who miss the obvious, this is called SARCASM. I love that people are so casually throwing around the word indoctrinate – do those of you who have suddenly added this word to your vocabulary have the same strong feelings about the indoctrination that Miley Cyrus, Britney and Jamie Spears, Bristol Palin et al are having on your child. The constant and REPEATED exposure to all the scandalous behavior is more capable of infleuncing our children then one isolated speech, where a man who is an eloquent speaker would strongly encourage a child that hard work and personal responsiblity help to shape their own futures. Consider that our society is constantly blaming / suing someone else. I have heard numerous complaints about the politics involved – yet it is those same potlitcal devices that have allowed parents to “bully” some school districts into taking this choice away from entire school districts. Yes, education is our job as parents, but as the old adage goes, it takes a village to raise a child, and why is so bad to have the “village elder/leader” support what we all want for our children – a strong education and the availability of choices for them when they are our age?

Wow… an intelligent, thought-out statement. She problee had some uh dat fancy book learnin’. Who needs that crap anyway.

  1. I left you a comment, and it was long, but google ate it. Or WordPress ate it. Yeah, that’s it.

Anyway, because I am a militant leftist who needs to brainwash children with good and decent encouraging stuff, I let my students watch the video today.

Also, some people are just idiots. And hateful.

  2. And you know what is even more discouraging than hearing this sort of garbage come from adults? It’s to read it coming from your 17 year old niece’s fingertips. It broke my damn heart when she was so proud to be protesting Obama’s education speech by staying home. And her #1 regret in her short life? That she didn’t do more to make sure Obama didn’t get elected.

While we’re all entitled to our differences in opinion, must we all be so hateful about it?
